The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has paid a historic courtesy visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Stephen Adedeji Onafowokan Ojafadego II, the Oloko of Ijebu Imusin, reaffirming the importance of collaboration between security agencies and traditional institutions in maintaining peace and public safety.
The Commissioner was accompanied by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, alongside other senior officers of the Ogun State Police Command. The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community policing and deepen engagement with traditional rulers across the state.
CP Ojajuni and his delegation were warmly received by the Ijebu Imusin Council of Chiefs, Baales, market women, youth leaders, community development associations and other stakeholders, reflecting the community’s commitment to supporting security initiatives.
In a symbolic gesture of appreciation, members of the Market Women Association presented the Commissioner with locally produced items from the renowned Ijebu Imusin Market, highlighting the strong relationship between the community and the Nigeria Police Force.
A key highlight of the visit was the presentation of a Plaque of Honour to the Oloko of Ijebu Imusin in recognition of his leadership, commitment to peace, and continued support for security agencies in the community and surrounding areas.
Speaking during the visit, CP Ojajuni praised the monarch for fostering unity and maintaining a peaceful environment. He stressed that effective policing depends on strong partnerships between security agencies, traditional institutions and local communities, while encouraging residents to continue providing timely information to support crime prevention.
In his response, Oba Stephen Adedeji Onafowokan Ojafadego II expressed appreciation for the Commissioner’s visit, describing it as a significant moment in the history of the palace. According to the monarch, it was the first official courtesy visit by a serving Commissioner of Police since his ascension to the throne.
The Oloko thanked the Ogun State Police Command for the recognition and pledged the continued support of the traditional institution in promoting peace, security and community development. He also urged residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant and cooperative with security agencies in safeguarding the community.
The visit concluded with the exchange of gifts, group photographs and renewed commitments by both the Ogun State Police Command and the traditional institution to strengthen community policing and sustainable development.
